Before we headed out in the air conditioned truck for an adventure, I took a couple photos of Jeff’s deck progress.  The joists are in place and he’s busy during the early morning and late night hours (to avoid dying in the direct hot sun) placing securing them all in place.

It’s going to be a big deck! It’ll be under the building code height so we don’t require a view blocking railing, but we’ll need to build a landing/step up to the front door.hike to the hole in the rock wall

Yesterday we hiked to a mysterious hole in a rock wall Jeff heard about.

It was just off the road, down a short hiking trail, and across a ridiculously clear rock bottom creek.

And there it is! A hole in the rock wall.  What is it? A den for a big scary hungry bear? A mine? hike to the hole in the rock wall

Any chance you are interested in crawling down it and telling us where it goes? It isn’t very big, you’d definitely have to slither/crawl.hike to the hole in the rock wall

Jeff went to the opening and took a couple photos with the flash so maybe we could see more.  It goes for awhile and turns to the right so we don’t know what is back there.hike to the hole in the rock wall

Thankfully the flash photography didn’t reveal two glowing eyeballs.hike to the hole in the rock wall

We thought it smelled like it was full of rotten animals, but then Jeff noticed a dead rotting animal that was half buried in the rocks along the edge of the creek.hike to the hole in the rock wall

This was a neat place. I guess people come here to go swimming in the river (we crossed at the shallowest spot.)hike to the hole in the rock wall
