FIRST day of blackfly season and one of those little bastards just bit me on the bottom of my foot.
AHHHHH the itch of the first bite of the season is torture! Like amputation worthy.
I see I “celebrated” the return of the blackfly on this same day last year.
Now where is that deet.

Ya gotta love the NFB !
By coincidence I got my first mosquito bite today.
How’d that lil’ bugger get the bottom of your foot ?!
Lisa
I was having my evening sun soak on the front deck. I was stretched out on the lounge deck chair with my shoes off and it got me!!

When does blackfly season end?!
Lisa
Oh probably September/October. They have a couple big population peaks during the summer. Best part of the Nova Scotia climate is the winter doesn’t really kick in until after Christmas so there is a few bug free enjoyable days in the fall 🙂
Michelle
oh no! 🙂
Lisa
Don’t worry, I still think the blackfly, mosquitos, and horse flies are way worse in northern Ontario than here. When do you arrive? Where do I RSVP for the welcoming party? 🙂
michelle
We arrive sometime around July 1st or maybe the second. It depends on how long we can drive 2 vehicles down!!!! We have to be out of here on the 20th of June and we stay until the 28th for school to finish up then we start the trek down! We are buying over near Windsor!!!!
Lisa
Well you’ll probably be able to get the vehicles here in reasonable time as long as you have at least 2 drivers 😉 I don’t know Windsor too well, although I think we drove by it to get to the bald eagle feed a few months back. Probably less than an hour to Halifax too. Can’t wait to hear about your adventures!
