Yesterday was a cold day that started calm and clear, with a big bright moon. The snow moved in later in the afternoon, the fine kind of snow that accumulates quickly.

It was -13C when I went to bed, and then overnight the winds kicked in and it turned to rain, somehow, before freezing again this morning.

BLIZZARDS ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO INVOLVE RAIN NOVA SCOTIA!

Now we have big strong wind gusts from the north, it is still snowing, -11C, and the ground is a mess! Now we have rock hard icy snow, on top of loose fluffy snow, on top of wet slush.

Jeff’s home sick with a bad cold that is just getting worse. He thought he should plow before it gets too cold, but it didn’t go well. The snow is just too thick, wet, hard, frozen, and wet all at the same time. As soon as he exposed some of the wet slush under the snow, it froze.

He called our neighbour with the tractor and plow to see if he can get us cleared out today. Unfortunately the rain overnight somehow flooded their basement!! Luckily we have no where to go, since Jeff is far too sick to go to work.
