At Pancake Bay last night, I carried my lawn chair to the edge of Lake Superior, plunked it down, and watched the sunset.

Beautiful evening!
There wasn’t much to do after sunset so I was in bed by 8:30pm.

It was pretty different to hear the leaves fall on the tent! And I liked it more than rain falling on the tent! I’m back in our little lightweight hiking tent since it is just me now. It is really easy to put up and down. Less easy to change in, but I can make work.
I was up this morning at 5. I tried to sleep more but I was already in bed so long I eventually got up, packed up, and had a shower before sunrise.
I pulled out of the campground around 7:30 to make the long drive to Thunder Bay.

It was another great day of driving. Some big cloud plumes appeared to the north and it clouded over and got dark for a bit but I missed the rain somehow and just had wet pavement for a short stretch.

I stopped many times to see the sights.

I even bird watched a bit in Lake Superior Park. I was delighted to find a new to me bird, the blue headed vireo, only to discover it was indeed already on my bird list from a bird watching outing with Aunt Cecilia 3 years ago. I had fun watching two of them anyway!

I stopped in White River to see Winnie the Pooh.

It’s been awhile Winnie!!

At this lookout I stopped and made a delicious sandwich for lunch.

The summer crowds have definitely lessened but there were still people everywhere, and this section of the Trans Canada has so few rest areas that when you do find a pull off, the whole place reeks of urine. I wish every highway had more bathrooms.

Dad told me to be sure to stop at the Rossport rest area and walk down to the shore to see the colourful rocks so I did as I was told!

I was just pulling off to hike at Ouimet Canyon, when I heard from my friend Jen and was invited to join her and her girls for supper so I skipped the canyon again and hightailed it for Jen’s place past Thunder Bay.
It was great to spend a bit more time with Jen, my old classmate and roommate and dear friend, and to see her kids again after so many years!
After supper we took them to their sports and Jen and I had a nice 7+km walk.
And now I’m back at my brother in law Brian’s for the night, kicking myself that I didn’t get a photo of me with Jen AGAIN. What kind of blogger am I? I was probably just talking too much to think of it!
Brian is too camera shy but I promise he exists too.
Next up… don’t know! Will I stay a second night or keep moseying. I guess you’ll find out tomorrow!
Good night!
Edit! I swung by Jen’s office for a picture!
