It’s been dark and rainy for days.. weeks? And today seemed no different, but around 10:30am the sun started poking through the clouds!
We took out the solar lights Mom got us last summer, and the welcome sign she brought out for Jeff’s birthday, and the Golden Retriever sign the breeders sent us at Christmas, and a few other seasonal decorations.
The sun stayed out so we e headed into town and bought some plants for the hanging planters on the porch. The rest of the gardens around here seem to be stocked full of perennials so we’ll see how they progress this summer (our first summer here).
We came back and started planting the containers. Jeff put together this water hose caddy we found at Canadian Tire. And then it happened…. 213409820934820398423 black flies came out to play. I was trying to plant the plants – and my arms were bleeding, the top of my ear was going numb from the bites and they were sitting on my glasses. It became a race for survival!
We bought new binoculars and they are AWESOME!
My favourite photo of the day. It looks better full size:
This porcupine was wandering on someone’s front lawn.
Porcupines sure have a real waddle to them as they slowly meander away! I should have taken a video.
This was a pretty little lake between our house and the ocean. We were just exploring back roads.
I think the squirrel was trying to watch TV! Bold little bugger!
I like how the containers turned out. Yellow is my favourite colour!

You should have taken another photo of Jeff looking through the new bino’s out of the car window!

Nice pictures. I love all the wildlife- all except for the black flies- but at least outside looks good so even if you need to stay in and away from the flies, you have a nice view.

Love your house and the area! Keep taking pictures and we will keep looking at them.
Texas Lisa
I love your pictures! What a gorgeous place you have ended up in! WOW…I would feel like I was on vacation all the time living there. I love the little lake! What gorgeous birds you have too. My 2 Canadian Geese left us last week to head back to you I guess! Be nice to them. I told them I would see them again in Nov.! 🙂

When are you coming to visit Texas Lisa? I’ll pick you up at the airport! It’s an international airport so you can take a big plane and not be scared 😉
