Zeus, our 11 year old, indoor-only, grey tabby cat had a TICK firmly dug into his neck!

I found it tonight when I was petting him, warming him up to a toe-nail clipping.

I held him, while Jeff got the tweezers and slowly pulled at it until it came out.

It looks like a black legged tick – the kind that carries Lyme disease.

I’m thinking about sending the tick away to get tested for Lyme disease. They encourage that here. I don’t want Zeus to get Lyme Disease!

How did an indoor cat get a tick?? I’m guessing it must have come in with the firewood, and Zeus is often hanging out and sleeping in the basement near the warm fire, so the tick must have crawled on him and hunkered down in his neck flesh for a gorging.
