While listening to Howard Stern’s birthday special this evening, I’m purging my office.
So many years of emotional turmoil, debt, payments, credit, misery.
I’m going through my file folder drawers and have so far purged:
- Winger & Surf’s vet receipts
- Winger’s obedience trial score sheets
- Monty’s dog show catalogues and entry forms (only kept his ribbons)
- insurance slips for my ’91 Lumina
- insurance papers for my old house
- furnace records for my house and oil delivery receipts
- found 2 prescription slips from Drs. Can’t read what they were for. Guess I didn’t I need them
- owner user guides for appliances and gadgets I don’t have any more
- telephone and PUC receipts from >10 years ago
- student loan monthly statements
- receipts for the window air conditioner, the tread mill
- so many CKC guide books
- tons of retriever trial mail, entry forms, catalogues
- Winger’s medical test results
- so many repair receipts for the old S-10 pickup truck I had
- folder of business ideas
- old client’s papers, receipts, invoices, paperwork
- job offer letters
- old cheque books
- receipt for my rollerblades
- tax records older than 6 years
I didn’t know I still had half this stuff. Who has the time to flip through file folders? I saw their hanging file folder tabs in my desk drawers and assumed their contents were still current or worth saving.
So much of this paper load should never have left the Sault.
Tomorrow it burns. All of it 🙂
I feel like I’m going through some sort of cleanse. Now that I have a job I love, coworkers I love and admire, friends all over the world, an amazing husband, a great house, no debt, so now I can finally free myself of this stuff, this baggage I drag through life. On my birthday last month I got rid of 5 big garbage bags of clothes I never wore. Today it’s a ton of paper.
If all goes well, someday I’ll get to a clutter-free stage of life. Like where you can see the surface of things, desks, tables, counters, dressers. I think its going to happen! Maybe not in 2014, but 2015 looks promising!

Jealous, exactly what I NEED to do and since tomorrow IS MY birthday , perhaps a good day to start as any, especially when it looks like another snow day
Like daughter, like mother… Here’s hoping it gets at least started, just bought myself a new shredder, so good to go
