Canada is so far advanced with our PIN and chip system on our credit cards. But when you purchase online, all this safety goes out the window.
Somehow, somewhere, someone got my credit card number and information and used it.
It’s always a kick to find out what they’ll fraudulently buy, isn’t it? What would you buy with someone else’s credit card? Electronics? Food? Travel? (the correct answer here is nothing, by the way). This fraudster bought some scammy traffic for his website from a shady multi-level marketing swindler site for $550.
Upon review, this fraudster had been using my card once a month, on the same day, for a $0.99 charge. The bank said this is one of their ‘tricks’ to check if the credit card is still active. Jeff reviews our statement every month and just assumed it was me and didn’t bother asking for a dollar charge.
Anyway, the bank has started an investigation and has terminated my card at our request. So if you’re reading this blog, you swindler leech, the gig is up.
