I got up earlier than usual this morning, hoping to send more time with Dad before he left the rest area. He was already up and planning his next adventure when I stuck my head out at 6am.

I got to watch him make his routine morning camping breakfast. Two eggs. Bread. Drip coffee.

The man sleeping behind us in the rest area was up too, and asked who was from the Yukon? He must have noticed our license plate. He said he installed the Yukon’s first traffic light! I said, oh you’re THAT guy! Turns out he once lived in Dawson and gold mined the creeks for a few years and spent all together maybe 30 years up there. He was hoping to get up there one last time this year but had to settle for Vancouver Island, which he said was the second best place.
He continued on walking his dog. The rest of the rest stop sleepers were sleeping in!

Dad decided he was going to Quadra Island to chase views and eagles next.

We said our goodbyes. We went the same direction for awhile, but then kept going further up the island to Port Hardy. It was a nice drive. Good road. Nice scenery.
My friend Colette moved here in the last couple of years. She’s the terrific friend that had me stay with her in North Vancouver for six weeks while I had radiation treatment.
Well now she’s renting a home in town and is in the process of building her dream home. And I got a tour!

The trees! The view! It’s all incredible! I can’t wait to see it finished!

Hank has been doing well with her dogs. Thank goodness!

Tonight we took them all for a walk. I got the little puppy’s leash. He’s ridiculously cute! Little Arby!
We were offered a bedroom inside with our own bathroom. But we are sleeping in the camper out front just off the street. The night air is very cool up here and smells oceany! But I did already take up the shower offer, and I’m pretty sure laundry is going to happen tomorrow too!
Good night!
