It was a lovely night sleeping with the rain fly off. The top of this big tent, an MEC Funhouse 6 man, is all mesh so you can see the trees and sky above.
We had a good night and since we were here a day early, we had time to shower and slowly sort out our day and make some tea.

We got a few groceries and a tarp and bungies in case we are in another deluge. It would be nice to have a place to sit that was dry. The front vestibule of this tent has room for lawn chairs but is not dry, as we learned in Tok.
We also stopped at Miles Canyon to see the pretty water colour.

Then we had an A&W burger for lunch before heading to the Yukon Wildlife Preserve for a bus tour!
I’ve done this tour a few times before and thought Cathy would enjoy it. She did!

We had the bus tour by ourselves! Over 90 minutes with our own interpreter showing us the animals.

We saw woodland bison. And three baby bisons!
And mule deer.

Look at this baby sheep! Cutest little lamb!

And there is a momma fox in their field!

And we saw a baby muskox galloping behind its momma!

The male muskox were loud and grumbly with each other in the field behind.
We also saw an 8 year old Dall sheep ram that is showing what living in a preserve and having ample food and safety can do for your horns!

I love the mountain goats!

They were still losing last winter’s coat!
The elk were too far away that we didn’t get a good look. But we stopped at the woodland caribou field to see the caribou!

And we heard the mother and daughter lynx having a fight through a fence but we could only catch a bit of a glance at one of them through the trees. They are very shy.

Then the best part, visiting the moose! This big one is Watson.

And now we are back at the campsite. Rain is forecast overnight so we put on the rainfly. The ground here is hard as concrete though so we can’t get many stakes in. Instead we are tying a couple ropes to the trees and the truck to keep the fly pulled off the tent.

Tomorrow morning we have a summer dog sled tour!!
Good night!
