It was pouring rain when I left the hotel. Dark. Foggy. Wet.
But fortunately the hotel had a free breakfast!

I made a waffle! Here it is covering my sausage and home fries. I couldn’t eat it all but it sure was pretty! Haha

The drive was wet for a few hours but eventually I got sunshine!
I saw the happy Rock in Gladstone, Manitoba so I turned back to pay a visit. Cute eh?

Of course there are no washrooms so I went scouring the back streets for a park or ball diamond or any place with a bathroom.
I found a campground and then Apple Maps told me to go a weird way back to the highway. I complied because my truck really likes to have fun.

So I put it in 4 wheel drive and went where I was told!
It was awesome!
Of course now my truck is covered in mud and the wheel wheels are caked in it. But I’m sure I’ll find rain again. Or a car wash.

I went to Inglis, Manitoba to see all the historic grain elevators!
But I hadn’t noticed any indication that they were already closed for the season. Boooooo! I really wanted a tour to see how they work(ed)!
Instead I could just walk around the outside of them and take pictures.

Of course it is another tourist attraction that has no outhouse. I did the ol’ back and forth of the backstreets. No obvious place to go! The bushes!?!! I ended up zooming back to Russell and even their tourist info centre is closed! For the season? I don’t know. I ended up making an emergency pit stop at an A&W.
The provincial campground nearby was also closed for the season so I continued on to Yorkton, Saskatchewan where I knew the municipal campground was still open.
I’ve stayed here before, with my Dad and my dog Winger in 1998 but it doesn’t look anything like I remembered. The operator said when he took it over, he cut down a forest to expand so I’m in a part that didn’t exist.

The bathroom has free books and movies!

My stomach is not well tonight. Maybe that breakfast sausage? Waffle? I know I have family here but I just want to nap.

So that’s what I did.
This is a loud park. It is in town so there are highway noises all around. People are coming and going and my head is near the main driveway. My neighbour has WIND CHIMES hanging up. (Who does that!?) and best yet, there is a regular train that blows its whistle loudly and takes 20 minutes to go by. (Love it).
It is the next morning now and while I thought that would all have woken me up all night, I slept like a baby and didn’t wake up until 6! Although my watch says 7 for some reason? The sun is rising so I better get crackin’.
Off for another day of adventure!
