I’ve got an audiobook recommendation for you!
Now let me preface this by saying, I really don’t like most audiobooks? As soon as someone starts talking in complete sentences (as one does when they are reading a book out loud), I tune out. I love listening to podcasts, but I just can’t concentrate on someone reading me a book.
But I heard a recommendation for this one, and the review won me over.
You should listen to Future Boy: Back to the Future and My Journey Through the Space-Time Continuum!
It is Michael J. Fox’s book about the making of the Back to the Future movie, and his role in it. It was timed to be released for the movie’s 40th anniversary this year!
There are audio clips within the audiobook, short interviews, movie clips, and it is all narrated by Michael J. Fox! It’s great to hear his voice. And because it is certainly with great effort that he is reading the book, it really helps you (me) concentrate on every word.
I didn’t know that another actor was cast in the role of Marty and they taped 6 weeks before switching actors. Or that Michael J. Fox filmed mostly during the night so he could keep up with his obligations for taping Family Ties during the day! Or that he hated the Delorean!
You can listen to the audiobook through the Audible service. Also, Spotify has audiobooks, and with a Spotify membership you get a few free audiobooks a month (that’s how I listened). If you can’t get your ears on it, I imagine the book is a good read too – especially if you grew up in the 80’s with Michael J. Fox on your TV. <3
