SPRING! So much food this week!

SPRING! So much food this week!

My, how quickly have we gone from this:

March 26, 2025

To this!

April 5, 2025

And now to puddles!!

It’s been a busy week!

(Sally is still with us. Quiet and mostly sleeping – she’s now not eaten for 4 weeks!!)

It was Jeff’s birthday week, so we did it up right by going out for 3 nights in a row! Sally has moved into a phase of really not needing me, and sleeping 99% of the time, so I feel more comfortable leaving the house.

We had supper out with various friends each night. At the Eldo one night, they even sang to Jeff! ha!! What a good sport!

On Friday night, we went to Bonton again, with our friend Alex, and then later went to a night with Amy Soloway and friends singing at Gerties!

Here’s this week’s menu!

We couldn’t rule any out, so we got one plate of each to share, and two plates of pretzels 😀

These Cannelini Beans may have been the best dish of the night! I need to figure out how to make a dish like this at home:

Here is the Potato Gratin & Leeks dish:

Remember, this place specializes in using local suppliers for just about everything on the menu, even the barley flour for the pretzels was grown in the Yukon!

Here is the Chicken and Zucchini Roulade:

And the Grilled Beef Skewers:

And the Morcilla – a pork blood sausage, made right here by Bonton themselves with Yukon-grown pork!

Here are my dining companions:

The almond cake was out of this world!! Thick and moist and so almondy.

Afterwards, we went to Diamond Tooth Gertie’s for a night of music!

Today, I went out for lunch with my girlfriends to the Yukon Spa. I had the most delicious falafel bowl, with a date square for dessert, and a chai latte with oat milk! They are plant-based only and really threw me when they asked me what kind of milk I wanted in my latte. They had 5 kinds of non-dairy “milk” ! The lady near me whispered (get oat, it’s the best). Thanks lady! It was all wonderful!

Then we went to Maximilian’s for a bit of shopping/browsing. Why do we always end up trying on hats? ha! It was fun!

The weather has been so nice and warm – above zero! We’ve even seen +10°C! The snow is melting like crazy. The back alley is almost impassable because of the big deep ruts in the slush.

Of course, we find a reason to get out to our camper every weekend just to check this or measure that.

Camping season is going to be here soon!

  1. And I always thought you lived in the boonies‼️. You eat like you’re in Paris.
