Pictures of our ice dam

I really wish I could have gone back further to get a better photo of our roof ice, but the snow is simply too deep to walk back there. If I dig the snow shoes out of the shed this weekend, I’ll update.

So if you can make it out, you’ll see a thick layer of solid ice on the top of the eavestrough, and back on to the roof. On top of that is snow. There is a spot cleared out where we’ve been tackling it with hot water.

The two holes cut in the soffit are for the Venmar air exchanger that is in our attic. The air outlet has turned the siding dark. I’m wondering if it is from the soot that gets in the air from the woodstove. We need to borrow a pressure washer in the spring so we can make the house look clean again.
