This morning felt like a great day to kick start the weekend with a truck stop breakfast.
We drove to Aulds Cove, just before the causeway to Cape Breton Island, and waited in line for 15 minutes or so for a table (everyone else had the same idea this morning).
The waves were huge on the Northumberland Strait today with the gust north wind. There have been whales reported on that side of the causeway most of the summer, but we knew we wouldn’t be able to spot them once we saw the size of the waves.
We drove over the causeway after breakfast and the waves were smashing over the causeway! We got the camera ready for the trip back across but the waves didn’t smash as big as on the way over.
See how wet the road is? There is gravel tossed all over the road too.
Yikes! Look at all the salt on the truck! See it on the window!?
We took a few back roads to see if we could get closer to the waves.
Found a spot!!
The waves were incredible! I decided to get out of the truck anyway. First I stayed by the truck to see how far the waves were crashing onto the road.
Then I said, I’m going closer!
Still pictures can’t quite describe the power of these waves, or the strength of the wind! I almost blew backwards once!
Good thing I took a video for you!!
There is only one thing to do with a truck covered in salt.
Car wash!
Full car wash is $12 now! Sheesh!
My favourite part! The coloured soap!
Now for the Rain.X and then we’re back in business!
