On Saturday, for my birthday, Jeff took me out to Bonton for dinner! Bonton & Company is one of Dawson’s finer dining establishments – don’t let the log cabin exterior fool you!

On Saturday nights they have two sittings, at 6pm and 8pm. Jeff made a reservation for the 6pm sitting.

The menu is always published a few days in advance, and is different every week! And just about everything served is locally grown, raised, or produced!

I started our dinner with a lovely pineapple ginger beer non-alcoholic mocktail. Lovely!

Here’s the menu for the evening!

We decided to go wild, and we ordered one of each of the small plates to share!

The plates come out one at a time, like 6 courses! I remembered to take photos of all but two of them!

These carrots with coconut were amazing!

And this potato latke! These plates are the perfect size for sharing.

The chicken was delicious!

The lemon mousse pie was so interesting. I’m glad we shared it too! We were totally stuffed, but it was all so good. I’m not sure we could have thought of one dish to cut. Getting to sample and share them all was really a nice treat!

And the haskap berry centre! Incredible!

We missed the Christmas boat parade that went by during our dinner, but that is okay, my birthday date was not one to miss!

For my birthday, Jeff also gifted me this keyboard I’m typing on! He picked up the hints about being able to blog away from my work laptop. He bought me a keyboard that is built into the case for my iPad, so I’m typing and blogging on my iPad! I LOVE IT!

I don’t know if I’ve ever had so many Facebook birthday messages. It’s so easy to roll your eyes at Facebook and the 2 second effort people put into wishing you a Happy Birthday, but does it ever feel nice to receive hundreds of well wishes!! I also had a few video and phone calls. Perfect day!
