And sorry about that old post that was emailed out to my subscribers from 2011! I thought I’d better add a new post, too, so you weren’t teased by a new post that turned out to be an ancient post.
No offence to all of our tourists, we love how you support our town, but this time of year is so magical! The tourists are gone, the ferry was pulled last week, we’ve had cold, snowy weather, and it is so nice! You run into people you know everywhere, and no one is standing in the middle of the street taking photos, or scowling at the price of eggs.
And I haven’t heard a single person complain about the weather. It’s magical!
We had a municipal election last week and the town elected in an entirely new council. We’ll see how this goes!
I was back at Diamond Tooth Gertie’s on Friday night with Bunny and Alex for our local talent show, which is a fundraiser for our local radio station. It was SUCH a good show! Great singers, great bands, fun music, and an audience full of locals.

And yesterday I attended a surprise baby shower for our friends Cass and Keegan! And she was totally surprised! It was great!

After a couple nights at -20°C, our heater is not working in the garage again, just like at the beginning of last winter. We’re thinking there is probably frozen water in the outlet of the tank. Jeff hasn’t been able to thaw it, so he’s turning on his kerosene heater from time to time to keep the garage above freezing.

We’ve called our service team so hopefully they can come save us this week and thaw it out.
It was shocking to see how fast we had ice form in the river!

So now we play the waiting game – will it freeze nicely for an ice road to connect to the folks in West Dawson? Or will the ice get caught up river again and not freeze? The river is getting pretty low with many gravel bars visible so it is definitely possible the ice will get caught up.
Here are a couple more bonus Hank butt pictures:

Until next time!
