The sun was HOT when we gathered to watch the parade yesterday! We stood near the corner of 5th and Church with our friends Kyle and Cerys.

After the parade, we went to Minto Park for cupcakes and refreshments. There was a free BBQ and then a whole afternoon of games and water events for the kids (until the skies opened and it POURED later in the afternoon).
I felt a major sunburn in my future if we were to stay at that picnic table any longer, so we walked home to continue our vacation prep.
Vacation Prep
Jeff’s truck is BACK and it is FIXED! WHEW!
I have two more days of work and then my three-month sabbatical starts! And Jeff’s 4-week vacation starts this weekend!
Time to get our new (to us) camper mounted! Because we haven’t had the truck in a couple of months, we didn’t get any chance to try it out!

Jeff’s been busy trying everything out, making sure everything works, flushing the fresh water tank, adjusting the fastguns, and I eventually get bored and wander away to see if I can spot the alder flycatcher or the orange-crowned warbler I could hear (nope).
Anyway, we’re packing light and heading out on Friday after Jeff finishes work, after we pass off our house to our houseguest for the month, and we’ll be heading to wander the backroads of British Columbia for a month!
Don’t worry, I’ll blog along the way!
And for a wildfire update, we’ve had so much rain in the last week, all the evacuation alerts have been cancelled. There is still concern that the fire across the river will come back to life this summer and threaten the West Dawson community, so the water pumps and sprinklers are still in place.

Awesome pictures. Jeff looks awesome. How much weight has he lost?
Have fun on your adventure thru BC. Is Hank going with you?
Linda
Right? He just gets more and more handsome 🙂
Yep! Hank is going with us to BC. He’s a dog of routine and not super keen on camping or being on a tie-out, but he’ll need to adapt!
