The campground we were aiming for this afternoon, Teslin Lake, was full when we drove through so we are parked in a rest area beside the Alaskan Highway in Teslin, Yukon.

We were not up and at ‘em early this morning. None of us slept well. No particular reason. Everything is just new I guess. I was probably up to use the bathroom 4 times and it’s not a stealthy shuffle/climb out of the bed to get there. And Hank had an upset stomach at 4 or 5 so Jeff took him for a walk.
It was pretty hot when we went to sleep but much more reasonable today.
Today is Hank’s 8th birthday! So Jeff picked him out a new bed and toy in Canadian Tire when we stopped in Whitehorse.

We bought several days worth of groceries so we are all self contained and self-sufficient now. Which is handy because we are in a gravel pull off tonight!

We saw two bears along the drive south of Whitehorse today. One cinnamon coloured black bear and a black black bear. Both in the ditch without a good place to stop to take its photo so sorry you can’t see them.

For food highlights, here are two. The fresh melt in your mouth sourdough bread sandwich I had for dinner.

And the Selina Gomez Oreos that a friend recommended. I don’t even know who Selina Gomez is, so that affirms my ripening age?

I also don’t really like Oreos. But these are better. Chocolate cinnamon tasting. Good road snack!
I just heard my cousin Wes and my aunt Maria and my Dad have run into each other in Kakabeka Falls in Northern Ontario and are sharing a campsite. Fun!! It is the season for road trips and campsites! Or, errr, parking lots.
Speaking of, Hank’s walk tonight is going to be up and down this parking lot. Here are a few more pictures from our rest stop.

I think we are going to be hearing engine brakes all night as the transport trucks creep down this hill into Teslin.
Just a heads up that we may not have any cell signal the next couple of nights so I may not be able to blog. Although just about every other rig on this highway is equipped with a Starlink system. Are we old school? Weird.
Good night!
