We are parked on the shore of Dease Lake tonight, north of the town of the same name, in a provincial rec site called Sawmill Point. There are about 10 campsites here. These rec sites are free, but have no amenities other than a couple of outhouses with no toilet paper (bring your own) and you are expected to carry your garbage out.

It’s overcast though, and sprinkled rain a few times. It’s chilly. 16C when we arrived and certainly cooler now.
Jeff is boiling water on the stove top for a coffee for him and a tea for me.
Early he cooked a burger and I had some more of the left over pizza we took out of Dawson.

I had hoped to read outside but it’s windy and cold and lying inside on our bed seems superior in just about every way?
We had Hank on his tie out when we arrived and he started growling at the woods. It was while Jeff and I had the camper jacked up so we could reseat it (it shifts as we drive) so Jeff threw Hank in the backseat of the truck until we figured out what he was growling at.
It was a big fat porcupine! It came waddling out of the woods and paid us no attention, continuing its course towards the outhouses. Thank goodness Hank didn’t get a mouth full of quills!

The campground is full already. I’m glad we got a spot tonight! It is wide enough though that someone else could squeeze in beside us if they want.

We haven’t had cell signal since this morning at that rest area we slept in. What a terrific sleep! It was 5 C this morning. Perfect sleeping weather!

We saw a bear with white ear tips today! And three moose. The drive on the Stewart Cassiar today has been nice so far. The road is busy with tourists and motorcycles and some bicycles. But the road itself is pretty decent.

We stopped at Jade City. I was always so sure I would buy something beautiful here, especially after watching a few seasons of their tv show, but nothing really grabbed my attention.

Jeff saw a guy from the TV show and he said there is still too much snow up in the hills for him to get to his camp to start mining.

No cell signal so we will see if I can post this tomorrow. I’m blogging from my phone and I already have so much feedback to make this WordPress and the Jetpack app work better offline!
