Geraldton, Hearst, Kapuskasing, and Moonbeam!

It POURED rain for a few hours before we got up this morning.

We really had no intention of getting up at any sort of reasonable time. We were nice and snuggled inside our beds and then there was a notification on my phone saying the rain was about to start again in 20 minutes.

AHHHHHHHH!

I hustled to the bathroom to pee because nothing was going to get put away properly if I didn’t.

Then we had to stuff our sleeping bags in their sacks and decompress our air mattresses and roll them up.

Then get the truck all organized so we could stuff it all back in.

Of course it was raining by the time the wet tent came down, so it was all wet again.

We went into Geraldton and Jana came to meet us at the gas station and then we all went to the Rexall together so I could buy new shampoo and body wash after forgetfully leaving it at Brian’s house in Thunder Bay.

Pretty sure no time has gone by at all. We are still young and full of laughs ❤️

Main Street Geraldton Ontario!

She gave us a tour of the main drag because I had forgotten where some things were.

Then we were off. I’m heading somewhere so special to my life, my story, my soul. If you know me, you can surely guess where I’m going tomorrow.

But I decided to cut the drive in half for that destination and I’m so glad I did. I pre-booked a night for us in Rene Brunelle Provincial Park north of Moonbeam a few days ago. And it rained most of the drive to get there today. So a 4 hour drive certainly felt better than a 7.

Since it was raining we had time to stop in at the Husky in Hearst for a diner lunch! We have been wanting this days! Or at least I have!

Delicious!

Then we had to stop in Moonbeam at the space ship! And it stopped raining!!!!!!! Yay!

There was a tragic accident near Moonbeam last week and 4 young people lost their lives. The flags were at half mast in several of the nearby communities and there was a massive pile of flowers with their pictures near the spaceship parking lot.

Then we headed for our campsite!

This site is huge! A drive through one too. It’s in part of the park with no electricity and it is very quiet. We can only hear the waves and the wind in the trees coming off the lake beside us. There are a few other campers in this loop, but everyone is quiet. Except for the loons on the lake, the way it should be!

After getting the wet tent up to dry, we drove to the top end of the park where there is a day use area and beach.

No one was around in this chilly, windy afternoon, so I climbed up on the playground equipment and slid down the slide!

Cathy definitely was judging me.

That slide was crazy fast!

Tonight we even cooked!

Damn that’s one sexy truck.

We are having a camp fire now and soon it will be bed time, because the radar shows a heavy band of rain coming our way.

Good night!
