The West Edmonton Mall

I have always wanted to go to the West Edmonton Mall, so today is spent the day there!

It was little over two hours to the mall from Vermilion.

I found a close parking spot and headed in to immediately see some fun!

This place is like an amusement park!

From 10:30am until after 4, I wandered the mall!

I started out with an iced chai latte and oatmeal cookie while watching some seniors skate.

One guy was even speed skating, with speed skates on and a white glove for touching the ice on the curves.

Later in the day, I saw many children practicing figure skating, even with jumps!

There is a water park even!

I went to the casino with grand plans of winning big. The most I won was $12.45 on the Buffalo slot machine. It wasn’t long until I lost my entire $30 gambling budget.

For lunch, I found a Swiss Chalet/Harveys in the food court!

Other than the bun and sauce, it wasn’t like the real restaurant though. The fries tasted like old oil, and the chicken was a big dry hunk of white meat. Bummer.

Next time I should not let myself get so hungry that I can find something new to try (I got discouraged by the shrimp everywhere). I probably can never have a plate of Chinese food from a mall food court again.

Then I took myself to the movies!! I wanted to see the last Downton Abbey movie but it started much later so I watched The Long Walk instead. It is based on the Stephen King story.

I don’t watch movies like this one anymore. It was okay. Gory of course. Absurd. Decent.

For the previews, I had a theatre all to myself! There were probably only 7 or 8 of us in there for the movie.

I still hadn’t bought anything! This mall has everything. But there wasn’t much I needed. I also didn’t feel like carrying bags around either. Why did I even want to spend a day in a mall? I guess because it is so foreign from our life in Dawson?

Before I left the mall, I got a new pair of jeans and a shirt so I’ll have something to wear this fall (I’ve got a work trip coming up in November).

At the end, I walked all the mall and racked up about 13k steps on my feet. A fun time!

I went to my hotel for the night, and I was ravenous! For pizza! So I ordered a medium Deluxe from Dominos.

And I ate it in bed! it was the best ever. Hot. Melt in your mouth. Delicious!!

And I have half to go with me on the road.

I’m about halfway home now, so a day off driving much was nice.

May this king sized bed provide a fabulous sleep. And may no coyotes wake me up.

Good night!
