I’m back in the Yukon!

Every time I woke up over night, I could hear an owl hooting. I just love that sound!

I stayed in the tent until after 7am this morning. Partly because it was cold. And partly because I didn’t want to leave too early with all the wildlife in the area and therefore likely on the highway.

There was frost on the picnic table this morning! I only noticed it when I went to sit on the seat and realized it was all ice!

Turns out the forecast was wrong! It was actually 1C when I rolled out of the park, and it was for least the first hour of driving. After taking down the tent, my hands were cold and that led me to believe my cooler was broken. It felt so warm set to 5C! Haha

I found the bison this morning! There were three groups of them.

They were all marching in the same direction with a little fall baby bison near the rear!

It feels distinctly later in the season once I crossed into the Yukon. In fact, most of the peaks/hills are covered in fresh snow up here. It rained on and off most of the drive.

And now I’m in Whitehorse! I’m absolutely drained. Exhausted from doing nothing but driving, despite sleeping decently. Jeff’s weekend plans would be easier if I was home by Friday night to watch Hank, so it looks like I should be able to make that happen.

It feels cold here. 9C and windy. I had supper in the hotel. Hot turkey on toasted sourdough, with seasoned fries and cranberry sauce on the side. It really hit the spot!

Can you see the snow on the hills behind the airport?

Good night!
