Last few days in Dawson City

Some highlights! First up, the last shows at Gertie’s for the season.

Cecilia and I went to Diamond Tooth Gertie’s for the final three live shows of the season. The last shows are a mix of the regular programming with fun additions, local community members, and extra musical guests.

These shows did not disappoint! It’s always fun when the visitors and tourists are a tiny minority in the crowd. All the locals have the last night. we claim the town back!

Cecilia was really wow’d by all the audience participation for the midnight shows – from singing along to clapping and hollering.

We had hoped to walk home under some northern lights but they didn’t show during Cecilia’s visit at all! Too many clouds.

Aside from sightseeing and wrapping up the last few days of my job, we have had our friend Christine painting the inside of our house.

That means everything is everywhere. We’ve been emptying rooms and packing and cleaning. We aren’t selling the house yet but some things are just easier to move right into a box rather than just out of the way for painting.

Hank’s eye is healing well and we just got the call from the vet that the growth is benign. Yay! The cone’s days are numbered now! Final days for it!

We have been walking and hiking and birdwatching around town.

One evening we went back up the dome and it was completely still this time. No wind.

One afternoon we went to the museum for a private screening of The Big Year. It’s a birdwatching themed movie from 2011 that was partially filmed in Dawson City.

It was a good watch!

On our last day, we had lunch with Janet and Tarie and had pizza and pumpkin pie with Alex!

Jeff made it home from moose hunting for my final night in town (for now!) He had a lot of windy weather on his hunt and didn’t have success. He said he still had an enjoyable trip though.
