We had another beautiful day pushing east!

We had a house to ourselves last night. I introduced Cecilia to North of North. Awesome show. I’m eager to watch season 2!

We walked across the street to have breakfast with cousin Mary while Bob was out for a walk. Then we were off!

We went to a Jiffy Lube first. My truck was due for an oil change. It was also time to change the oil in the rear differential and transfer case. I had them check the pressure in the new tires too because I had a tire sensor fault signal coming into Edmonton for 5 mins last night.

We decided not to go to the West Edmonton Mall because it was 20 minutes back west and it didn’t open until 10am.

Instead, we set our first destination as the Vegreville Ukrainian Easter egg!

There were birds to watch here (birds are like Pokemon, but real). A caboose to walk through too!

How many pictures of Alberta and Saskatchewan’s back country would you like to see? We took secondary highways all the way to Saskatoon and stopped a dozen times to birdwatch in the ponds. So many cackling geese, snow geese, Sandhill cranes, and ducks. I’m lschuyler on ebirds if that helps you follow our bird finds. Or wait, Cecilia found a way to share a trip report. We took 9 hours to do a 5 hour drive I think. Perfect.

Did someone spill soybeans on this road?

We had some pizza at our lunch stop on the side of the road. A truck with a couple farmers drove by us 3 times. Are the binoculars a suspicious look? We haven’t found a picnic table for lunch yet!

Hey, hot tip. Don’t stop in Provost to use the bathroom.

But sometimes when you have to pee really bad, two porta potties will just manifest themselves on the side of the road.

There is still a lot of combine action on the prairies this week! We didn’t miss the harvest!

We found a few grain elevators!

We stopped in Biggar for a Klondike bar! From then on the bugs were just throwing themselves into the front window. Thick greasy bugs that didn’t wash off! We had to navigate the rest of the way to the hotel between the bug smears!

We kinda skipped dinner but good thing we had a box of s’mores ingredients in the truck!

Tomorrow we have less driving, more bird watching, and hopefully some more family to visit!
