Did I run out of steam? I only took one picture on our last day of travel!

We woke up to rain, but really, we had such wonderful weather for days, I guess we were due?
We had our continental breakfast at the hotel and headed out down the 69. We stopped at the French River Trading Post because I remember my travel companion last summer (that’s you Cathy!) said it was a good place. It was! Lots of things to browse and buy in there! I bought Jeff a Christmas present there. Shhh, that’s a secret.
We found the cheapest gas on Highway 69 at just 160 cents per litre.
Then it was back to the reality of southern Ontario living, battling the 400 and 401 series highways! So much traffic! Gross!
We made it to Aunt Cecilia’s house, and I stayed for a while and had some lunch while an accident was cleared from the highway I was going to need to leave Toronto on.
Next stop – my sister Julie’s house! Since I had to drive practically right by their place! They are already all decorated for Hallowe’en. Look at their new pets! A dog and cat!

Every time I left the room they were in a different place when I came back into the room, and they were always looking at me. Terrifying!!!
Next stop, my destination! This 50-year-old has just moved back into her Mom’s basement…
Overall, A+ road trip with Cecilia! We had fun, laughs, great weather, beautiful scenery everywhere, a memorable hike, quality time together in the truck at an accident scene (reminds me of when we tried to wait out the rain in Cecilia’s car while camping near Tobermory together when I was a kid), nice visits with cousins, a good soak in a hot steamy river, and I may choose not to remember the part about the snakes.
I still need to tally our numbers, but we travelled over 6,000 kilometres, and it took us 11 days!
I wish everyone had the opportunity to drive across great swaths of their country like this, meet people (there is a small town in Saskatchewan where we stood out like total foreigners in their little grocery store! That was neat! They were very nice.), and see the beauty of not just what we call Canada, but this planet, with its rivers and lakes and mountains and plains and animals and plants, and birds!
Now, I’ve gotta get my truck unpacked, figure out where I’m putting my clothes, and then figure out what surface I’m going to use as a desk. My new work laptop has arrived in time!
