My poor truck. I really think it’s suffering from not having me drive it every day. And now it has to sleep outside at night (the garage is full of our packed stuff ready to move).

A couple of weeks ago I replaced the battery. And now it’s the starter. Yesterday when I tried to start it, it screamed at me the first time. It did it again a couple of times today. So Dad’s advice is to not drive it until I can get it repaired. I have Jeff’s truck – he’s in Calgary, so I guess I will drive it.

Part of me wants to just sell my truck. Right now, we have no need really for two vehicles. We live together, work in the same building, and do most of our shopping together. Maybe I should just sell mine. The only time it would be a problem is when Jeff is gone on a fishing or hunting trip. Then I’d have to take the bus or rent a car.

Cost wise, my truck is costing me in repairs – probably $1500 a year. Insurance is about $63 a month. How much could I sell it for, $500? $850? It’s a 1992 Chevy S-10, 2 wheel drive, 4.3L engine. Most of it’s parts have been replaced in the last 3 years, but it’s still old. This morning the door was frozen shut. When I got it open, it removed the rubber seal so I had to put it back on before the door would close. Then the wipers were frozen to the window and I sure couldn’t crank the defrost because it might crack my windshield even more.

I would love to be making enough money to go out and buy something newer, nicer, maybe with 4×4 and a CD player, but I don’t have that kind of money so I would have to go without until I did have money coming in.

Would I would miss a bit of my independence without my own vehicle? Possible. And Jeff’s truck is huge and seems like too much of a vehicle to drive around to run errands.

I guess I’ll just park it for the week and see if Jeff is up to replacing the starter when he gets back. In the meantime, if anyone wants to put in their potential purchase bid, just let me know ;D
