I’ve had a long list of jobs in my life, and not one of them has treated me as well as my current employer, Automattic.

The list of ‘why’ is long, including an open vacation policy, flexible hours, a very generous health plan, but also the opportunity to work really hard to build and support products and services that I use and love, with some of the smartest, nicest people I’ve ever met. The chance to work full time from anywhere in the world was just icing on the cake!

As a way to thank employees for their dedication, after we hit our 4th year anniversary working for Automattic, we get to have our next work MacBook Pro laptop customized with a logo of WordPress, or with the logo of one of Automattic’s other products.

Next month I’ll celebrate my 6th anniversary with the company, but just before I do, it was time to upgrade my work machine. My new WordPress MacBook Pro just arrived. Isn’t it beautiful?

I chose the WordPress logo. (WordPress is the open source software that powers this blog, if you are curious.) This machine will be mine to keep, after it is retired from active work in a couple of years.

These photos are of my front porch office, where I like to work on nice summer afternoons like this one.

By the way, I suppose I should mention, Automattic is hiring – https://automattic.com/work-with-us/

I work on Automattic’s VIP team. We are also hiring – https://wpvip.com/careers/
