With an extra night to spare, we headed to Atlin, BC!
We’ve lived in the Yukon for 10 years now, but still hadn’t made it to Atlin. Until today!!
Atlin is a little historical old town that is accessible by road only from the Yukon.
It gave me a Keno-like vibe, with all the old cabins and storefronts but much more touristy and kept.
In the end, we didn’t spent the night. We stopped at both grocery stores, the bakery, walked along some of the waterfront, drove through the streets, but being Tuesday, Kershaw’s was closed! The one tea shop/store I wanted to see the most!
Here are some Atlin photos:

We decided to head back to the Yukon and have parked ourselves in a little territorial park called Tarfu, on the shore of Tarfu Lake. It is 4 km off the road to Atlin and pretty small and quiet!
We were here before 2pm so we had the whole afternoon to spend around the fire. I had to tap out on the Helen Keller autobiography I’ve been reading (it is just so much – maybe I need an abridged version). I switched to another novel on my kindle and then the hours flew by while we burned more free Yukon wood and enjoyed the windy day.
There are just 3 other people in the little park tonight. We have a huge site in the top section (site 10).
Jeff cooked a couple steaks on the fire and we had some of the Saskatoon-Rhubarb pie he found in Atlin! Here are some afternoon photos.

We were just about out of drinking water. We have water in our tank but never tend to trust all the hoses we fill from.
Brian to the rescue! My brother gave us a portable water filter a few years ago that runs on batteries or a power bank or a wall plug. It worked like a charm! I waded into the lake and filled up some jugs and then we ran some through the filter at our site.

It’s quite chilly tonight and I’m thoroughly smoked from the fire so we are moving inside before 9.
Thanks Brian and family!
Good night!
Oh! I forgot mention that last night in the Teslin Lake campground, a truck woke me up at 2am and then I got to lie awake and listen to an owl for awhile! So amazing!!! Great horned owl I think. Had to be!
Tonight we have loons! ❤️

Lisa! You need the Merlin Bird ID app! It’s the coolest and you can easily record bird calls, start a list, and it identifies…etc! I heard a great horned owl a few nights ago. I love Atlin, such a characterful town! Hugs to you 🙂
