Today would have been even better if I did it over 3 days instead of just 1. But this time of year, there is no where to stop to camp so I knew I was going to have to go all the way to Liard River Provincial Park.
Right away, when leaving Fort St. John, there was a big buck (deer) road kill right in the middle of the highway as I crested a hill.

The entire drive today was very hilly, with almost no passing lanes, and there are so many double tanker oil and gas trucks, most of which struggle going up every hill.
If you can’t get around them, then you are going <40 km/hr by the crest. 😬
So I did a lot of truck passing.

I saw so many deer today. Then caribou. Two black bears. And elk!

I didn’t see any sheep, but I also had no time to stop and look. No bison yet either.

I got gas 4 times today, including two expensive fuel pumps at lodges, just to be sure I wasn’t going to run out.

I stopped in Fort Nelson at the IGA grocery store again for some hot chicken fingers that I could eat as I drove.

I think that was an 8 hr drive. But I made it to the Liard hot springs. And this time, I’m sleeping in the campground, inside the electric fence! Yay! I was so hopeful when I saw the empty overflow parking lot. Yes!!! There are plenty of campsites here tonight.
But who is crazy enough to camp when the forecast says 2 degrees overnight?
(Me)

I set up my tent and went for another soak in the hot springs. This time the last bear activity sign has a date a week ago.

And now I’m in my tent already at 7 pm. I’m really tired after that driving (no easy cruise control driving today!)

I’ve got my wool socks on, my long Johns, a wool top, a toque, and I dug my down puffy out of the truck’s secret basement. I forgot I had stashed rain pants in there too!
Good night!
Oh and here is the electric fence behind my site.
