We had really comfortable beds in that Liard Hot Springs lodge last night.

We were waiting at the gate for the Hot Springs when it opened at 7am.

It was -2C and frosty! I’m kindly glad I wasn’t camping, as I had originally planned before Cecilia joined me.

The boardwalk into the hot springs was frosty and slippery. But that had nothing in the barefoot walk to the water! That was achingly cold!

There were several of us hitting the hot springs at its opening.

No bears or moose around. The warning sign said the end of August was when the last bears were spotted in the area. Or maybe that was when the summer job ended for the person that updated the sign!

We soaked for longer than I probably ever have there. Which was easy when the air was chilly.

That is my “I hope I don’t slip on this icy board walk and land in the hot bog” face.

I didn’t notice until we were back in the room at the lodge but the hot spring severely tarnished my silver ring and gold plated earrings!

We had sourdough toast and bacon. I added peanut butter and strawberry jam to my toast and topped it with bacon. Perfect!

What a beautiful day we had for a drive! The leaves were so colourful!

We didn’t find any sheep or elk or caribou. Not even a grizzly!

But we did see coyotes today and some deer and two moose! Also some bison and a rogue horse!

Gas was 239.9 at one of our stops! 😱

That campground was closed but fortunately they didn’t lock the doors to their pit toilets.

Day three of our buns were pretty stale so we added cheese, turkey, and peanut butter for moisture. My taste buds were confused but it wasn’t that bad.

Thankfully there were tons of pull offs.

The last few hours through Fort Nelson to Fort St John were full of big clouds and big trucks.

Before sunset we were in our hotel room, ordered a pizza, and used my Expedia voucher on a free cheesecake!

Tomorrow we head towards Edmonton!
